So yesterday and today the boy had some mysterious destination for us. I assumed we would wind up at a hockey game somewhere, probably in New York. Wrong!
I am at the Reluctant Panther, in Manchester, VT, and it is awesome. Our room has a two person rainfall shower, two fireplaces, a king sized feather bed, a huge spa tub.. this is their equivalent of a honeymoon suite. We've been eating tons of great food, shopping, relaxing.. oh, and this:
It snowed rather a lot here as a lovely welcoming to winter, and I decided to go out for a walk today. Very slow going, trudging through snow that ranged from ankle deep, to thigh deep (and I am not a short girl), and more of a workout than I expected. All that walking, and only managed to snap one picture that I thought was at all decent.
I've been neglecting to carry my camera around with me, but with all the pretty (and not so pretty) lights up, I wanted to take pictures anyhow. Phone to the rescue again, though pictures from my phone, taken at night? Not so hot.
The trees in our common look like pumpkins. It's sort of starting to grow on me, but really, ick.
Watertown, happily enough, did theirs nicely.
I think I spelled that wrong. Oh well.
This one does not suck as much - I always bake a ton of cookies this time of year.
And, since this is supposedly a knitting blog (though the lack of projects that I'm working on for myself is seriously killing my mojo)... Yarn porn!
And snow - we got a foot last night, yay!
Just the same as everyone else, really. I was sick, then busy, then busy again, then I went home for Thanksgiving, got sick again.. and here we are!
The squirrels at my mom's house clearly are well fed.
Back in Boston, I went here
with Emily
to attend this
Twist Collective trunk show! It was fun! I neglected to take any pictures inside! Bad blogger! (As if the rest of this post didn't prove that.)
The end. (Normal blogging to resume sometime. Maybe after I finish the boy sweater, whenever that happens. Until then, it is sucking away at my knitterly mojo.)
So every now and again, you hear about someone making a complaint on their blog, and the company they are complaining about reads it, and actually does something about it?
Well. PayPal, are you out there? Because I am incredibly frustrated with you right now, after you allowed a suspicious transaction (which I was in no way involved in) to go through, and after I disputed the charge, and you resolved it in my favor.. Why the hell did you decide to charge that amount to my bank account again? Fuckers. That's $70 in NSF fees I'm trying to resolve now, thanks to you. You say you won't refund them. My bank says they won't refund them. I can't get anyone to give me an answer any more detailed than a scripted company response.
I'm going to bed now. I'll be calling you in the morning.
But I finished something else!
Not the boy's sweater, that's for sure..
Now that I'm over this stupid cold, I'm off to the gym, and then the grocery store. This afternoon's project will be these cookies - purely as a test run to see if they would be good thanksgiving cookies. Yeah. Not because they look amazing. Just.. practice.
But no, I have not yet woven in the ends.
I am not casting on for anything new this year (second socks are not new), so maybe I'll finish a few more things..
Came and went, and I've had no time to blog it. You only wanted pictures, right? (Click to embiggen.)
First, we went to Salem. I may have to give Hawthorne a chance again, though I hated him in high school.
The shawl pin I already broke and glued back together. The DellaQ bag is from the Ravelry party - we got there too late for the goodie bags.
Two amazing things there - first, the fun fur coat. I felt awful for trying so hard to get a photo of it (and I do have a better one, but you get the idea with the blurryness), but seriously. A multicolored fun fur coat. I would stab my eyes out before I got anywhere near done knitting it.
Also amazing, the last photo was the artichokes french line. Last year, I scoffed at the length of the line, for a mere artichoke. This year? I stood in it to see what the fuss was about (I stood in a lot of lines this year), and have to say.. I have no idea what the fuss is about. I was soooo unimpressed. You can keep your artichokes, just so long as I have hot cider and maple cotton candy.
Same time, same place next year? Yeah!
